Securing a Domain Name and Web Host

GoDaddy http://www.godaddy.com is one of the more economical and reliable web host servers – you can go to their site to look for prices for domain name and hosting service.

Note:  If you prefer another web hosting service, please make sure that  they support websites designed using Microsoft Front Page.

Domain name is the address that people would use to find your website.   eg  my website is http://www.meadowpurrs.com    “meadowpurrs.com” is my domain name. The following link is for GoDaddy information for a Domain Name (usually your cattery name.com)

Web Hosting is the remote location where I publish your website so that it can be viewed by everyone through the internet using your domain name.

Designing the Website (I will design a site specifically for you based on your preferences).

My websites are very simple without a lot of flashing or moving objects on the pages (these slow down the pages and take up more server space).

Typical cattery website will include: 

1)       Opening Page

2)       Information Page about you and your cattery

3)       Cats Page with pictures of all the cats in your breeding program (from this page you will be able to go to an individual page for each cat with more pictures and pedigree information, etc.

4)       Kittens/Cats Available Page 

5)       Favorite Links Page

6)       Show Page (if you plan to show, you may want to show pictures from the shows on this page)

You may suggest colors that you prefer, types of backgrounds, page header text/pictures, buttons, etc.

 I will work with your suggestions and create some samples for you to look at.    You must then tell me if you like or dislike the design, etc.  Please do NOT worry about hurting my feelings if you don’t like something – we will work together until we have something that is perfect for you.

Once we decide on the basic “look” of your website, you will begin sending me pictures, text, etc. that you would like to have on your website.    Pictures should be the original photos (not cropped) and sent to me as .jpg attachments.  It works best if I do the cropping here.

The part that takes the longest is agreeing on the basic “look” for your website.    Once this is done, inserting data and pictures goes rather quickly.

The entire project will take about 2-6 weeks.

Updating pictures and changing text in the future:    The annual maintenance fee is $200 for basic changes throughout the year (e.g. - changing pictures and text).

The fee will be significantly  higher if you have lots of changes and/or you want the site completely re-designed or if you had a very large number of changes.
